Human remains found in makeshift graves identified in Mexicali

KYMA

MEXICALI, Mexico (KYMA) - Nine human remains were identified after they were found in makeshift graves in the Mexicali Valley.

Among them are brothers Claudio Francisco and José Guadalupe, ages 40 and 35.

They were kidnapped in November of last year.

A total of 19 sets of remains were located.

Ten remains are still pending identification through ongoing genetic testing.

“Most of the people we identified are from the rural area of the Mexicali Valley. The remains have already been released directly to their families for burial. We work very closely with the families. Absolutely all family members have been notified of the discovery of their loved ones," said Maria Elena Andrade, Attorney General of Baja California.

Efforts by search collectives and authorities continue at the site where bone remains were found three years ago.
