Tracking cold mornings, seasonable afternoons, and breezy conditions this weekend

It's been a gusty day. Thankfully, winds will be calmer this weekend, but still going to be breezy through Sunday. Mornings will be cold, and afternoons will be pleasant. Warmer temperatures will move in next week.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA-TV)- It's been a gusty and dusty day! Winds were coming from the north northwest, which brought strong winds and dust this afternoon. Stronger winds favored in Yuma County and the highest gusts recorded was 47 MPH.

Winds will finally be much calmer through tonight. However, through the weekend, we will still be breezy with gusts still ranging between 20-30 MPH through Sunday.

Bundle up, it's going to be a cold Saturday morning. Tomorrow morning is going to be the coldest morning of the year so far, with lows in the low 40s and low 30s.

A Freeze WARNING is issued and will go into will go into effect at midnight tonight through 9 a.m. MST Saturday for parts of La Paz County, and it includes Quartzite for sub-freezing temperatures. Lows will dip into the low 30s by the morning.

Heading into the weekend, we will have sunny, dry, and warm, but nice temperatures. It will still be a little breezy and windy at times for Yuma County as this lower-pressure system continues to move east.

Plenty of sunshine will be sticking around for the next several days, and the afternoon will slowly be warming up.

We will have unseasonable temperatures later next week as high temperatures will be trending at or near the 80s.

DROUGHT UPDATE: Good news! Pretty much all of the Desert Southwest is looking drought-free. However, only 17.66% of Yuma County is still experiencing dry drought conditions. But just last week, Yuma County was at 79.04% with dry conditions. Comparing last week to this week, it's a 62.38% difference. Overall, we have seen huge drought improvements over the last several months.
