Tracking winds and cooler temperatures

Gusty and dusty winds will favor in Imperial County through late tomorrow morning. But the good news is we have drier conditions with us and a cooling trend taking over this week.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - We have a lower pressure system bringing in strong winds to parts of the Desert Southwest today.

Strong westerly winds will impact in Imperial County through late tomorrow morning. These will bring blowing dust and sand, which is why an Air Quality Alert is in place for the majority of Imperial County until 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Even stronger winds will take place for the southwest corner of Imperial County with gusts up to 50 MPH. A Wind Advisory is in effect, and it includes Ocotillo until 11 a.m. Tuesday.

It will be breezy and windy especially for Imperial County through the middle of the week. Wind gusts will range 20-35 MPH. Of course stronger winds will favor in Ocotillo.

If you are traveling west, take precautions and watch out for blowing dust.

As for our temperatures, daytime highs were in the upper 80s this afternoon, and that is cooler than normal.

Going into the evening, humidity will be comfortable with dew points in the 40s. Plus, temperatures will be nice and cool with lows in the low 60s and upper 50s by Tuesday.

We have a lower-pressure system staying in place and bringing in cooler air, which will give a us a nice cooling trend to the Desert Southwest this week Plus, this weather system will also bring in breezy and windy conditions at times throughout the week too.

We will have a dry week ahead with cool temperatures. Daytime highs will trend in the low 80s and even upper 70s this week and overnight lows in the low 60s and upper 50s. Our temperatures are going to be FANTASTIC!

Tracking slightly warmer temperatures for this weekend, but still cooler than normal. We will have pleasant and enjoyable weather for the Yuma County Fall Fest this weekend.
