Tracking humidity and additional chances for showers this weekend

After the active storms in most areas of the Desert Southwest Thursday, we have calmer conditions today. Still tracking humidity and additional showers for the weekend.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Active storms brought heavy rain, flooding, gusty winds, dust, hail, and lightning to Imperial and La Paz counties Thursday. Take a look at some of the photos sent in by our viewers.

With the heavy rain that fell, take a look at the rain totals from yesterday in Imperial County. Most areas received a quarter and over a half of an inch. Some areas even reached an inch of rain. This is what was recorded by the National Weather Service Weather and Hazards Data Viewer.

Some viewers who have their own measuring gauges shared with me and said they recorded 1 to almost 2 inches in areas such as Brawley.

Yuma didn't get as much rain as we hoped and would like, but we did get some light showers, and some areas did get measurable rain.

In town, the Yuma Marine Corps Air Station recorded 0.04", and our daily average for yesterday's date was 0.03". So we got slightly above average rainfall yesterday.

Moisture will still be in the air throughout the weekend, with dew points staying in the 50s or above. So prepare for a hot and sticky weekend.

Rain chances aren't over just yet. I am tracking additional rain chances on Sunday and Monday, as we have 20-30% chances in the forecast.

Take a look at future track looking like additional showers will begin to move in late morning and afternoon.

Rain totals are uncertain, but amounts are looking less than a tenth of inch for now.

Enjoy the final days of summer! Fall kicks off on Monday! Humidity will be sticking with us, so prepare for a warm and humid weekend. I am also tracking additional rain chances Sunday and into early next week.

By the middle of the week, highs will trend in the triple digits, but overnight lows will be nice and in the mid and upper 70s. throughout the week.
