Arizona tow truck drivers face heat and roadside risks

(KYMA, CBS) - Arizona tow truck drivers are contending with two major dangers: Distracted drivers and extreme heat.

Valley Towing CEO Rinny Dyar says his team handles hundreds of weekly calls, often working on scorching pavement in triple-digit temperatures.

The National Association of Safety Professionals reports heat causes 170,000 work injuries and 2,000 deaths each year.

Dyar urges stranded drivers to seek shelter during wait times, which can last up to 90 minutes, to stay safe in the desert heat.
