Two-year-old boy and mother murdered in San Luis, Mexico
SAN LUIS, Mexico (KYMA, KECY) - A family in San Luis, Mexico shot to death.
A two-year-old child and his mother killed, along with a man, and one child injured. Police believe it was tied to drug violence.
Sonora State Police say the murders happened Tuesday afternoon at the Chula Vista Two neighborhood.
Police say the mother was a known drug dealer. She was with her two-year-old and eight-year-old boys when a suspect shot her and her children.
A 40-year-old man was also killed at the scene. We don't know his relation to the family.
Locals we spoke to are in shock and sad because violence is taking innocent lives.
Juan Reza, a San Luis, Mexico resident, said, "I think law enforcement has to be more committed because this is hard for the families and it’s painful for the entire society."
Maria Recio, another resident, said, "If any adult person knows what's good and bad, if we deserve any punishment, it's ok, but to kill kids...It's very sad and painful."
The San Luis city mayor stated on his social media that he is sad and hopes the investigation helps find those responsible.
Locals feel law enforcement has to do a better job protecting the community to stop this type of violence.
Reza expressed, "IÂ don't know what the government thinks, but they have to act better."
No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.
