Erik Menendez reportedly battling a ‘serious medical condition’

(NBC, KYMA/KECY) - Erik Menendez is reportedly battling a "serious medical condition," his attorney said Tuesday.

It comes as he and his brother, Lyle, are fighting for their freedom, with both serving life sentences for the 1989 murders of their parents.

According to the California Department of Corrections, Menendez was transported to a medical facility last week and he remains in fair condition.

In just under a month, the brothers are set to have their parole hearing after a judge resentenced them in May to 50 years to life in prison, making the Menendez brothers eligible for parole.
