Key Mexican drug cartel member killed
(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - A key member of a Mexican drug cartel who had a bounty over his head, has died.
Authorities say Jorge Humberto Figueroa Benítez was killed during a Mexican government operation to capture him.
The U.S. says Figueroa Benítez was a key member of the 'Los Chapitos' criminal organization, a group of the Sinaloa Cartel and said to be a major supplier of fentanyl into the United States.
The U.S. government offered a reward of up to a million dollars for his capture.
The man, known as "El Perris," faced a host of charges, including drug trafficking, money laundering, and weapons possession.
