Tracking hotter temperatures for Thursday

A ridge of high pressure is keeping our weather sunny, dry, and hot. The hottest day of the week will be Thursday with highs in the mid 100s.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - Temperatures will continue to rise today and tomorrow, as temperatures will trend about 10 degrees above normal and moderate heat risks.

The hottest day of the week will be on Thursday, and heading into the holiday weekend we will be a little cooler, but still toasty. More heat will continue into next week.

Remember to practice heat safety throughout the day, which includes staying in cool air-conditioned buildings, drinking plenty of water, and if you are going to be spending time outdoors to take frequent shade breaks. Also, don't forget about car, pet, and pool safety as well.

Afternoon breeziness is expected on Thursday and Friday, with the strongest winds on Friday, resulting in gusty winds and dust.

Stronger west winds will favor in Imperial County with gusts of 30-35 MPH.
