Temperatures are warming to the triple digits

The hottest temperatures of the year, with the first 100-degree temperatures of the year, are on the way by the end of this week. Also, I'm tracking for daily record highs that could be met on Thursday and Friday.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - A ridge of high pressure continues to build and expand here in the Desert Southwest keeping our temperatures unseasonably warm.

This high pressure system will peak Thursday and Friday making it the warmest days of the week.

Afternoon highs were well above their normal/average values for the date in the upper 90s. Tracking temperatures to stay this way for the rest of the week with many places likely seeing their first triple digits so far this year Thursday or Friday.

Well above normal temperatures will lead to daily minor heat risks, and even moderate heat risks on the 100-degree days. Record highs could be tied and broken Thursday and Friday.

Weather conditions will remain very dry, with no rain expected, and very breezy conditions will develop this weekend.

Also, don't forget the April's full Pink Moon will peak in our skies on Saturday evening.

With the extra warm temperatures that will continue this week make sure to practice heat safety throughout the day.
