Tracking a continuing warm-up

As a ridge of high pressure continues to build and expand it will keep our temperatures well above-average. I am tracking highs in the triple-digits and in record territory later this week.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - Above-normal temperatures will continue throughout this week and
into the weekend with high pressure aloft building over the region.

This high pressure will be at its peak Thursday and Friday with temperatures in the high 90s to low 100s across the Desert Southwest. Record highs are also looking likely later this week too.

The good news is we will have mostly clear skies, dry conditions, and light winds all week, just temperatures are going to be very warm.

Even though our temperatures this week aren't the hottest we have been here in the Desert Southwest, we still have minor to moderate heat risks and we still need to practice heat safety throughout the week.

Take a look at our heat risk levels and how it can impact you.

With odds of the first 100 degree temperatures likely later this week, here is a look at stats for annual first 100 degree days in Yuma and El Centro. The 100s later this week will be earlier than normal, but not the earliest.
