Department of Health and Human Services cutting 10,000 more jobs

(KYMA, KECY/NBC) - The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) said on Thursday it will be cutting 10,000 more full-time jobs.

The HHS made a statement about the cuts affecting several agencies as part of the White House's "Reduction in Force" plan.

Multiple departments are expected to be downsizing including at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The HHS over sees 13 agencies, including the Food and Drug Administration and the National Institutes of Health.

NBC says when combined with previous HHS cuts, a total of 20,000 full-time employees will be let go, downsizing from 82,000 to 62,000 employees.
