Border Patrol finds $96k worth of meth during vehicle check on Highway 86

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Agents arrested a man who was accused of smuggling meth worth about $96,000, according to Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
At about 11:50 a.m. on Monday, March 24, agents stopped a sedan at the Highway 86 checkpoint. After a K-9 checked the vehicle, agents checked the floorboards and found several packages.
The packages were tested positive for meth and weighed a total of 114.5 pounds, with an estimated street value of $96,942, according to CBP.

The driver was placed under arrested.
“This hefty seizure represents something significant happening here in the Premier Sector and across the Border Patrol, namely that cartel terrorists have an ever more difficult time smuggling drugs,” said El Centro Sector Chief Gregory K. Bovino. “Our checkpoints are open for business and Border Patrol agents know more, much more, than cartel terrorists know.”
