Temperatures are gradually warming up

A ridge of high pressure will build into the region, boosting our temperatures above normal in the days ahead. We have more unseasonable temperatures for all of next week.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - A ridge of high pressure will build across the region through Thursday with a warming trend, pushing temperatures back into the normal range by Thursday followed by even warmer temperatures on the way.

With this big warm-up on the way, take a look at our temperature outlook, we are seeing those dark reds and maroons covering our area which shows we will be having temperatures well above average.

I am forecasting our highs to trend around 15 degrees above normal for late March and watching for possible record temperatures for next week.

We will kick off the first day of spring with near seasonable temps and mostly clear skies. I am tracking quiet, but warm conditions that will continue into the weekend, with highs in the 80s.

However, an unseasonably strong high pressure is then expected to affect the Desert Southwest all of next week with highs climbing well into the mid and even upper 90s.

The Spring Equinox, or the Vernal Equinox, will officially start March 20th, at 2:01 A.M. (MST) for the Desert Southwest.
