El Centro Fire Department hosting emergency certification program

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - An Imperial Valley fire department is hosting a program to be prepared in case of an emergency.

El Centro Fire Department (ECFD) is holding the community emergency response team program.

Locals will learn disaster preparedness, fire safety, medical operations, search and rescue among other response skills.

"Because you never know what kind of emergency we could facing, obviously we got earthquakes in the region, flooding doesn't happen very often but if it would happen it goes to say that we may not be as prepared as we could be asa a community," said Batallion Chief Eduardo Ainza.

The "Cert" classes start April 7 and end the first week of May. To register, contact Alejandra Cazares at (760) 337-4530.
