Construction starts on Calexico Intermodal Transportation Center

CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Construction began Tuesday on the Calexico Intermodal Transportation Center(ITC) Project on 3rd St. between Rockwood and Heffernan Ave.

The ITC in downtown Calexico will include onsite customer service, canopies, bicycle racks, a break room, EV charging stations, and more.

“Through the power of partnership, ICTC is excited to begin the next phase of a decade long effort, the construction of the Calexico Intermodal Transportation Center (ITC). The Calexico ITC demonstrates the Imperial County’s commitment towards providing an equitable, safe, healthier and more efficient transportation experience for the residents of the Imperial County,” said ICTC Chairman Robert Amparano.

Funding for the ITC came from multiple sources including the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant.
