Onvida Health surpasses 5,000 robotic surgeries

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A local hospital reaches an important milestone using state of the art technology.

Onvida Health recently surpassed 5,000 robotic surgeries using the Da Vinci Surgical System.

Robotic assisted procedures allow surgeons to have greater accuracy and faster patient recovery.

"Since they got smaller incisions, they have much less pain. And it's a finer surgery for a tissue handling and they recover much faster because of that and they hopefully heal from whatever disease they have much sooner," said Simon Lavotshkin, Onvida Health General Surgeon.

Onvida Health introduced the Da Vinci surgical system in 2019 and now has four state of the art robots.
