WEATHER ALERT: Severe Weather impacting the Desert Southwest bringing rain, wind, and dust
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - Severe weather took place on this Friday to start the first day of September.
The main impacts from these storms brought widespread rainfall, flooding, lightning strong winds, and blowing dust.
Storms have calmed down, and storm system continues to move more toward our north, chances for isolated showers is still possible until tomorrow morning.
Localized flash flooding will be the primary threat due to flooded areas and run-off.
Flood WATCH is in effect until midnight tonight for the entire Desert Southwest, remember your flood safety and do not drive or walk through flooded roadways.
The Desert Southwest did receive some measurable rain where some areas received over an inch or more.

Strong winds and a big dust storm rolled into Yuma this afternoon where visibility was observed down to 1/4 mile at the Yuma Airport.

A few isolated storms will linger on Saturday, and then dry conditions will set by Sunday.
Temperatures to start the weekend will be below-normal and staying cool leading into Labor day.
