YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA/KECY) - The Yuma mother charged with trying to murder her teenage son by stabbing him is now deemed competent to stand trial.

Today in court, we learned 37-year-old Diana Diaz has completed her Restoration to Competency (RTC) treatment.

In April 2022, she was arrested for allegedly stabbing her 15-year-old son after an argument.

He survived the stabbing.

Diaz is charged with premeditated attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

She's back in court later this month for either a trial setting or change of plea hearing.
