(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - A pilot and passenger were rescued after a small plane got tangled in power lines as it went down in Maryland Sunday night.

The pilot and passenger were not seriously injured but they were stranded 100 feet in the air.

Rescue operations lasted for hours.

The FAA reports that the single-engine Mooney aircraft had departed from Westchester County Airport in New York.
