Rescue operation for small aircraft tangled in powerlines
(CNN, KYMA/KECY) - A pilot and passenger were rescued after a small plane got tangled in power lines as it went down in Maryland Sunday night.
The pilot and passenger were not seriously injured but they were stranded 100 feet in the air.
Rescue operations lasted for hours.
Power was knocked out to 120,000 Pepco customers in Montgomery county.
The FAA reports that the single-engine Mooney aircraft had departed from Westchester County Airport in New York.
The National Transportation Safety Board is planning to investigate what went wrong.
