Local polls are open as midterm elections are underway
YUMA, Ariz., (KYMA, KECY) - Voting centers are now open, with doors opening to voters at 6 a.m. until the close at 7 p.m.
Votes casted today will go toward the all-important races across both Yuma County, Imperial County and the states of Arizona and California - from governor, to state representatives, all the way to some proposition votes.
Some locations across Yuma County to be aware of:
Yuma Civic Center
MLK Center on 13th Avenue in Yuma
Yuma main library off of 21st Drive
Arizona Western College
Saint John Neumann Catholic Church in the foothills
AWC Wellton Manufacturing Learning Center in Wellton
Somerton Community Center
Cesar Chavez Cultural Center in San Luis
Remember, voters have to be in line by 7 p.m. In order to vote, and if you still have a vote by mail ballot, make sure to turn it in tonight by 7 p.m. In order for it to get counted.
Do not put it in the mail, as it will not arrive on time.
There has been a steady movement of people in and out of the Yuma Civic Center early in the morning - many lining up outside around 5:45 before doors opened.
When we spoke to the County Recorder last week, he told us there was already a lot of early voter activity - so we’re not sure how long these lines are going to get, but the county says it’s prepared.
Be sure to stay tuned throughout the day on kyma.com and tune in for Nightside for the latest results.
