YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Chairperson and Interim Director of the Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area (YCNHA) names new Executive Director.

Straightaway, the new Executive Director will be Cathy Douglas.

Furthermore, she will be the permanent Director, filling the spot that belonged to Lowell Perry Jr.

Currently, Charles Flynn is the current interim Director.

Shelley Mellon, the Chairperson of YCNHA, stated, “The Board unanimously agreed to appoint Cathy Douglas as our new Director. We are confident of her abilities to lead this organization to even greater success.”

Not only that, Flynn commented, “After reviewing the situation for the past three months, it became clear to me that Cathy Douglas, who has worked for the Heritage Area for nearly ten years, has already been playing a pivotal role in all aspects of operations of the Heritage Area."

Adding to that, "She is a natural to carry forward all the good work happening along Yuma’s riverfront and the downtown."

While Flynn will remain as a transition advisor through mid-November, Douglas begins her work this week.
