Storm leaves its mark on Imperial County

IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Valley residents and businesses are recovering after a storm blew through Imperial County on Saturday afternoon.

The storm brought heavy rain, high winds, and even hail in some parts of the Valley. Residents say this was a storm that left its mark.

El Centro Regional Medical Center says its front lobby was flooded as a result of the storm. However, crews were able to contain the water from reaching patients.

Starbucks on Imperial and Bradshaw closed down due to losing power as a result of the storm.

The storm caused about 4600 residents to lose power across El Centro and Imperial.

Santos Alvarez is a Valley resident who says this storm shocked him.

"It was probably the worst ones I have seen, as far as how fast the wind was, even with the hail, and hail I've only seen once before," he said.
