Legal action pending for Republican officials who have shipped migrants to other cities

(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - Courts might end up deciding the latest dispute over migrants in the United States in the midst of some Republican governors sending them to more liberal jurisdictions.

That has now prompted a lawsuit and a criminal investigation with legal action brewing over efforts to ship migrants north.

Governors in these states - including Arizona, Florida and Texas - have been sending them to areas they call sanctuaries - such as California, D.C., Massachusetts and New York.

A sheriff in San Antonio, Texas is investigating two flights that originated there.

Florida governor Ron Desantis took credit for flying nearly fifty migrants to Martha's Vineyard in coastal Massachusetts.

Now most of those migrants are part of a class action lawsuit against Florida officials, alleging organizers used fraudulent tactics to get migrants on the planes.

In a response last night, Desantis argued participation was voluntarily.

Some Republicans say ending the Trump Administration's Remain in Mexico policy has led to overcrowding - but some Democrats say the governors are using desperate people as political pawns.
