The calm after the storm
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma is back-to-normal after remnants of Tropical Storm Kay landed here.
Residents are out and about saying they wish the rain lasted just a bit longer.
The calm after the storm is here and it is leaving the desert southwest with lots of moisture this weekend.
After facing fallout from the storm on Friday, Yuma residents are finding ways to cool off outside again.
Families are at spending quality time at a local water park and the river, but some like Daniela Limón are saying they wish the rain stayed for the weekend.
“I thought it was gonna rain a lot more and then I kinda hoped it would last two days ‘cause we hardly ever get rain and from my perspective, it was so nice, like it just felt so cleansing ‘cause we hardly ever get that in Yuma,” said Limón.
The rain is gone but the humidity is here to stay and another resident, Chile Limón, says she isn’t a big fan of the thick moisture that remains.
“I was expecting the storm to continue to today and I was kinda like bummed out, ‘cause it’s kinda humid," said Limón.
The City of Yuma Public Works wrapped up distribution for free sandbags since the bulk of what we would see from the storm has passed.
Although Tropical Storm Kay has calmed down, the National Weather Service says there’s still a chance for lingering showers tonight.
