Imperial Valley recovers after Tropical Storm Kay

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - From closed gyms to last-minute event adjustments, all a result of the rain Tropical Storm Kay Dumped on Imperial County yesterday. 

Michael Harvey is the treasurer for the 9/11 stairclimb event. He says the heavy rain was unexpected.

"Well obviously the weather took a turn for us, so we were able to adjust," he said.

The annual 9/11 stairclimb event will be held indoors for the first time ever.
The initial spot is still drenched with water.

Holtville Fire Chief Alex Silva says this will not stop Valley residents from honoring the lives lost.

"The rain is unpredictable but first responders, we are used to dealing with adversity and having to think with our feet," he said.
