Authorities ID teen girl killed in Arizona school van crash

(KYMA, KECY/ AP News) - Authorities have released the name of the teenage girl who died from a serious bus crash - carrying students and staff on a school field trip in eastern Arizona.

The crash happened Sunday morning off of Route-40 near Sanders when a semi-truck rammed into a school shuttle van after traffic was slowed down due to an earlier rollover crash.

According to Arizona Department of Public Safety officials, the girl pronounced dead at the scene has been identified as 17-year-old Kiarra Gordon of Wide Ruins.

Gordon was a student at the Seventh Day Adventist Indian School in Holbrook.

School officials said she was one of 23 people on the van carrying students and staff on a field trip to Window Rock, New Mexico.

Authorities said several other people in the van suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries in the crash.
