WASHINGTON (KYMA, KECY) - Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) announced her support for the Mental Health Access Improvement Act, which looks to provide more mental health care services through Medicare.

“Ensuring Arizonans in rural parts of our state can access mental health care, whether through their local licensed mental health counselor or licensed family therapist, will close the gaps in mental health care for underserved communities,” expressed Sen. Sinema.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says mental health concerns have been brought up by about 20% of people over the age of 55.

Sinema hopes the Act can ensure more mental health services can be provided for Arizonans in rural areas.
