AZ AG: Territorial-era law banning abortions in effect

MGN

AG will ask for an injunction on the law to be lifted

PHOENIX (KYMA, KECY) - Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich posted on Twitter that a law more than 120 years old that bans abortions in most cases is "back in effect".

"Our office has concluded the Arizona Legislature has made its intentions clear regarding abortion laws," began Brnovich's tweet.

The territorial-era law bans anyone from getting an abortion unless the mother's life is at risk. Anyone who helps perform the abortion faces from two to five years in prison.

"We will soon be asking the court to vacate the injunction which was put in place follow Roe v. Wade in light of the Dobbs decision earlier this month," concluded the statement.
