Man arrested near Highway 86 checkpoint after agents find suspicious van

SALTON CITY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - US Border Patrol says agents arrested a man after finding a van with signs of human smuggling.

At about 1:45 p.m. on June 10, agents stopped a yellow van near the Highway 86 checkpoint.

The driver of the van gave agents a fake ID card and was later found to not have the proper documents to be in the United States.

No one else was found inside the van and the 28-year-old man was taken to El Centro for processing.
