High temperatures bring locals out to the Yuma Wetlands
With a heat advisory still in affect Sunday, many still didn't let that stop them from heading out to the water - 13 On Your Side's Luis Lopez reports
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - With temperatures expected to reach as high as 113 degrees Sunday, many locals are coming out to spots like the Yuma East Wetlands.
All to try and beat the heat.
Everyone throughout the desert southwest is doing what they can to stay cool, as an excessive heat warning remains in place for Yuma County.
The weather has been keeping some people from coming outside.
Others however, like Brawley resident Giovanni Valenzuela, are heading out to the water.
“Well this is my first time here in Yuma, this side, I mean just enjoying time with the family,” Valenzuela said.
Many locals decided to hang out on the Colorado River.
Either simply sitting in the water, or diving right into it.
Others, like San Luis resident Jose Linarez, just floated down the river, using the heat as a reason to get together with loved ones.
“Have a little fun you know with friends, hang out together and you know just have a good time,” Linarez said.
Now if you don’t happen to be near a body of water like this one…
Definitely make sure you’re staying inside near some air conditioning, and staying hydrated, to stay safe from these temperatures.
