Agents uncover 40 pounds of meth during inspection on Highway 78

Yuma Sector Border Patrol

BLYTHE, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - U.S. Border Patrol agents designated to the Blythe Station uncovered 40 pounds of meth on California Highway 78 during a secondary inspection.

After searching through the Chrysler sedan, agents say they discovered 40 pounds of meth, personal use marijuana and drug-related objects.

On Tuesday, Wellton Station agents performed a vehicle stop on a Plymouth minivan traveling east on Interstate 8 and found over two pounds of meth and five grams of heroin.

In both cases, Drug Enforcement Administration took custody of the drugs and vehicle occupants, who were U.S. citizens.

Yuma Sector seized both vehicles.
