Bill to increase border security by hiring at least 600 officers
WASHINGTON (KYMA, KECY) - Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) is cosponsoring a bill that will increase the amount of border security.
The Securing America's Ports of Entry Act is supporting the U.S. Customs and Border Protection as they face an officer shortage due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Allowing CBP to hire more officers at our Land Ports of Entry will strengthen our border security, continue our economic growth through legal trade and travel, and help ease the immense strain CBP officers face on a daily basis at our Southwest Border,” explained Senator Sinema.
This bill is expected to hire at least 600 CBP officers in five years.
