This is a developing story and will be updated as information comes in

UPDATE 9:49 a.m. - The City of Yuma has closed West Wetlands Park until further notice due to multiple fires that broke out before sunrise.

Yuma Parks and Recreation workers noticed two small fires and attempted to extinguish them before they spread.

The City of Yuma says the entire park including Stewart Vincent Wolfe Creative Playground, the pond, walking trails, boat ramp and beaches remained closed with no estimation of when it will reopen.

No injuries were reported.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma Fire Department (YFD) responded to a brush fire at West Wetlands Park Loop and came upon multiple fires as tall as the surrounding trees.

At around 5:00 a.m., YFD sent out one firetruck to what they thought was a brush fire and quickly activated a "full assignment" which is when all firetrucks are sent out after seeing how big the fire actually was.

While YFD was at West Wetlands Park Loop, a secondary fire broke out by nearby wood debris due to strong winds.

YFD says about two acres burned.

They also say the main fire took about an hour to contain.

Firefighters continue to work on hotspots and flare-ups.
