Man with active warrant arrested near Calexico

CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - El Centro Sector Border Patrol says agents arrested one person who was carrying multiple weapons and has an active warrant.

At about 2:55 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, agents stopped a Nissan Sentra on Interstate 8 near Calexico.

Several weapons were found in the car, such as a 12-gauge shotgun, a pistol, BB guns and three boxes of ammo.

The 30-year-old driver of the Nissan was found to be a U.S. citizen with an active warrant and the passenger was a Mexico citizen with permanent residence.

Both of the occupants were taken in for processing and the driver was later arrested but the 34-year-old passenger was released.
