Restaurants to be honored at America’s Small Business Development Center

YUMA, Ariz (KYMA, KECY) - Two restaurants in Yuma have been awarded for excellent achievement by America's Small Business Development Center (SBDC).

Julieanna's Steak and Seafood is one of the restaurants being honored, something Chef Eddie Guzman and his cooking staff are most proud of.

"It's a great achievement, and I am very excited. Very happy. Excited for my team. This was a whole team achievement. Not just mine myself, but my family, my kids and especially the whole servers, chef, and management" Chef Eddie says.

For Chef Eddie, attending the April 14 America's SBDC conference at the state capitol and accepting the award is not just about business.

"I'm a Yuma native. Born and raised here. We have culinary students from AWC that are doing interns at the restaurant, and that's the way we're going to give back to the community to be able to represent in the highest that we can," Chef Eddie explains.

After Chef Eddie gets back from the conference, he plans to show it to those he feels earned the award more than him.

"The staff will see it. The staff and myself to remind us that what we have achieved, but what we got ahead of us," said Chef Eddie.

In addition, to Julieanna's, Takos and Beer is also being honored by the America's Small Business Development Center, and is also owned by Chef Eddie.

One thing that is certain is when Chef Eddie heads to the conference, he will be representing Yuma and the community's support for local businesses.
