Lawmakers congratulate Jackon's confirmation

(KYMA, KECY) - Ketanji Brown Jackson was confirmed for the Supreme Court of the United States on April 7, 2022 and many sent out statements about this event.

Senator Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) says, "I'm proud to have supported her nomination. As we mark this significant progress in our nation’s history, we celebrate the better America that we are building, where our courts better reflect and understand the country they serve."

Jackson is also historically the first black woman to serve on the Supreme Court.

Representative Raúl M. Grijalva (D-Ariz.) also made a statement saying, "Despite the partisan and embarrassing political and cultural warfare tactics Republicans used at her confirmation hearings, we witnessed firsthand Justice Jackson’s legal aptitude, sharp intellect and dedication to the rule of law."
