City of San Luis offering free tax preparation service

SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - In collaboration with the Western Arizona Council of Governments (WACOG), the City of San Luis will be offering free preparation services to residents.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) is a free service to help residents in need and ensures the proper tax credits are received.

An individual or household whose income are $66,000 or less are eligible and will be asked to provide ID, 2021 filed tax returns and other documentation.

“Last year, more than 650 tax returns were filed by VITA volunteers,” said Mayor Gerardo Sanchez. “I encourage our community members who are eligible to take advantage of this free service."

The program will be continuing through April 18, 2022 and in-person appointments will not be available, however, documents can be dropped off at 788 E. B Street, San Luis, Arizona on Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
