TSA confiscated 6k guns in 2021 setting a new record

(KYMA, KECY) - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has set a new record for the number of firearms discovered at U.S. airports last year.

The TSA says it seized over 5,900 guns at security checks in 2021.

That's 1,500 more than the previous record set in 2019.

The TSA says the majority of those firearms were loaded.

It was an expensive mistake for passengers who did not declare and properly pack their firearms.

They could face anywhere from a $3,000 fine to $10,000 in fines.

Even more, if it is a repeat offense.
