Citizens able to join program and help report crime

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma Police Department has given an open invitation for the community to join the Neighborhood Watch Program to help prevent local crime and vandalism.

The program is made up of dedicated citizens who are willing to make their community safer.

Citizens in the program are trained to recognize suspicious activity, dedicate a few minutes of their day to report crimes and get to know their neighbors who become the eyes and ears of law enforcement.

Citizens are only asked to contact authorities of any criminal activity and not intervene with anything potentially dangerous.

Anyone interested in joining the program to get involved with an existing or create a new watch may contact Public Safety Technician Ashley McCleney at (928)373-4731 or by email at Ashley.McCleney@YumaAZ.gov.
