Yuma Police: Arson suspect at large, cash reward for information

YUMA, ARIZ. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma Police Department (YPD) and Yuma Fire Department responded to a construction fire in the 8100 block of E. 32nd Street Saturday, October 16, just after 1 a.m.
"YFD responded and extinguished the fire, shares Lieutenant Robert Wright." "One structure was a complete loss, another suffered damage as well."
Investigators say the fire appeared to be started intentionally.
"Arriving Yuma Fire Department personnel found a two-story apartment building under construction in the 3300 block of Avenue 8E that had heavy smoke and flames coming from the entire structure," describes Public Information Officer Mike Erfert. "Firefighters were able to contain and extinguish the fire."
Lt. Wright confirms the suspect is still outstanding. He also points out that this case is currently an active investigation.
"A one-story building next to the building on fire sustained some moderate damage and a large amount of construction materials were protected," adds Erfert.
