Border Patrol rescues 8 lost in mountains
Eight migrants were rescued within 6 hours in the Jacumba mountains
OCOTILLO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The heat may not stop migrants from illegally crossing into the U.S. Still, Border Patrol agents continue to be on the hunt to rescue them from this weather.
El Centro Sector agents rescued eight individuals in the Jacumba Wilderness region Tuesday night.
In the first incident, dispatch notified agents of an individual lost in the mountains and had no water. A half-hour later, agents found him a mile south of Interstate 8 near the In-Ko-Pah Park Road exit. They say the man, a Mexican national, did not need medication assistance.
In the second incident, agents were notified of two individuals lost in the mountains. Agents successfully found both men, Mexican nationals, 10 miles north of the border.
In the last incident, agents located five men in the mountains. All eight rescued undocumented individuals will be processed accordingly. Â
Since October, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents have successfully rescued 164 individuals lost or in distress.
