Three taken to hospital after car crash in Somerton

Bystanders tell firefighters one vehicle was speeding before crashing into another vehicle

SOMERTON, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Paramedics transported two individuals and a child to the hospital on Tuesday after crashing in Somerton.

The Somerton Cocopah Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle crash in Somerton Avenue and County 11th Street. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found a black Nissan sedan with damage on the front driver side and a brown Ford F-150 with damage on the front end.

Paramedics transferred all three individuals from the sedan to the hospital. The driver of the truck refused medical treatment.

Bystanders tell SCFD the truck was speeding, traveling south bond on Somerton Avenue. When the driver turned onto County 11th Street, he crashed with the Nissan, traveling east.

Yuma County Sherriff’s Office continues to investigate the crash.
