Three homes under construction destroyed in fire
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - UPDATE (8:30 A.M.) - Firefighters continue to investigate the fire reported at the construction site in the Araby Crossing.
The City of Yuma Fire Department (YFD) said the fire was reported close to 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Araby Crossing subdivision located at 6500 block of East 32nd Lane. When firefighters arrived, they found three homes in flames. Thankfully, they controlled the fire about 45 minutes later. However, due to the intense heat and ashes, four dumpsters on the block caught fire.
Firefighters also extinguished a palm tree, and a dozen spot fires near a mobile home park. The fire destroyed two multi-story and a single story home. In addition, the heat damaged another home under construction and a work vehicle.
The Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Fire Department assisted at the fire scene, and Yuma Police Department personnel assisted with traffic control.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
