Woman taken to hospital after car crashes into house

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Police say a 77-year-old was taken to the hospital after crashing her car into a house on Thursday.

The Yuma Police Department (YPD) said it received reports of an injury accident at the 100 block of W. 20th Place around 3 p.m. Police at the scene said a woman driving a silver Ford Taurus was traveling southbound in 1900 of 1st Avenue when she lost control of her car and crashed into a house.

Police said the crash caused a natural gas line to break, causing the area to be evacuated until the gas line was shut off.

Paramedics transferred the woman to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
