Imperial Police seek suspected home burglar caught on camera
A neighborhood in Imperial is on edge after a home was broken into in the middle of the night and the car was taken.
IMPERIAL, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Imperial Police Department is looking for a suspected burglar after home video footage showed the moments the suspect entered a home and allegedly took a vehicle.
All this happened while home owner Adrian Ramos and her daughter were sleeping, Ramos said.
The suspect was caught on camera peaking into her 17-year-old daughter's window before making their way into the home.
It wasn't until the next morning that Ramos realized her daughter's car was stolen.
“She was going to go to school so she went outside and realized the car wasn’t there so she texted me if I took the car and I said no,” she said.
That car, a 2019 white Camry was stolen by the suspected intruder, his whereabouts are unknown at this time, according to police.
“So right now I would categorize him as not armed and dangerous at this point," Corporal (Cpl.) Jeremy Schaffer of the Imperial Police Department said.
Cpl. Schaffer believes the suspect does not reside in the City of Imperial, he adds anyone with any information is to call the Imperial Police department.
In the video you can see around 4 a.m., the intruder opens the backyard gate, and after peaking into the window where Ramos’s daughter was sleeping, he made his way into the house. The door leading into the home didn’t have a lock, Ramos fears that this was something the suspect knew.
“So yesterday she was very scared just knowing someone can break into your house and get your car,” Ramos said.
