Lottery reaches half a billion

13 On Your Side's Cody Lee hears what locals would do if they won the mega millions

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Today might be your lucky day! The Mega Millions Jackpot has now hit over $500 million, and locals as well as tourists are heading to the gas station, or wherever you buy lotto tickets, to become the next multi-millionaire.

When asked what enticed her, a passerby says, "Just luck of the draw, just I see people in there buying and I'm visiting from California. My mom lives here in Arizona. Why not?"

The Mega Millions Jackpot for tonight's drawing is $515 million. The estimated cash value, after taxes, is close to $349 million.

Another local shares, "I would give the money to children, especially, single mothers and elderly."

If won, it will be the ninth largest jackpot win in Mega Millions history, and the second highest jackpot won this year.

A couple of weeks ago, a winning ticket was sold at the Fry's Food and Drug store in town. That person walked away with $10 thousand after matching four out of the five numbers.
