Imperial County offering COVID vaccine to children ages 12 to 15

The Pfizer vaccine will be available starting Thursday, May 13

EL CENTRO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - The Pfizer vaccine is now authorized for children aged 12-15 in Imperial County.

Health officials said earlier this week, the Food and Drug Administration announced the authorization of the vaccine for emergency use for children of those ages.

The vaccine will be available starting Thursday, May 13, at various locations throughout the county. To make an appointment, click here. Or dial 1-833-422-4255.

Dr. Stephen Munday, County Health Officer, stated, “It is welcome news for many families that the Pfizer vaccine has been authorized for adolescents 12 years of age and older, especially as school campuses are returning to in-person instruction.  The possibility of having their children vaccinated will give many parents the peace of mind that their children are protected from suffering severe illness from COVID-19. Offering the vaccine to a younger population will be another way to get our community to immunity much faster.”
