Mexicali back to orange tier due to COVID cases on the rise

Mexicali has new restrictions starting Thursday, May 13

MEXICALI, B.C. (KYMA, KECY) - Mexican health officials say Mexicali is back to the orange color traffic light.

The Secretary of Health, Alonso Óscar Pérez Rico, said Mexicali is the only city in Baja California that goes back to orange light starting Thursday after COVID-19 cases keep rising.

Mexicali Televisa Oficial reported the following restrictions:

  • Gyms down to 30% capacity
  • Cinemas down to 30% capacity
  • Shopping centers down to 30% capacity
  • Churches and religious centers down to 30% capacity
  • Restaurants / Bar drops the forum to 30%
  • Supermarkets lower capacity to 30%

Sources say events with big crowds are suspended until further notice.
