Somerton Cocopah firefighters investigating abandoned home fire

SOMERTON, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Multiple agencies extinguished a fire in an abandoned home last Sunday morning in Somerton.

The Somerton Cocopah Fire Department (SCFD) received reports of a fire around 11 a.m. at the 300 block of E. George Street. Fire crews said they saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof.

SCFD says it requested assistance from MCAS Fire Department to the scene. Fire crews extinguished the fire about two hours later.

Firefighters continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
